MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB.

FOURTH ANNUAL MEETING.

(The fourth annual meeting of the Maungakiekie Golf Club was held in the Chamber of Commerce on Friday evening, Mr. P. N. Kingswell presiding over a large attendance. The annual report showed that the club was in a very sound position, both as regards the membership and finance. The bal-ance-sheet showed a small debit balance of £& 18s Id,' which was accounted for by the fact that the expenditure had been extended over a period of some 16 months, and during this time substantial improvements bad been made to the club house, costing some £209. At the commencement of the season the links had not been in as good order as could have been desired, owing to the very dry summer and autumn, but at the present time tiiere was every indication of their being iff first-class condition for the opening. During the year the committee had decided to limit he number of playing members, in order to prevent overcrowding. The membership roll at the close of the year was as follows: — Men playing, 151; ladies playing, 150; nonplayers, 43; total, 344. The thanks of the club were due to Messrs. P. N. Kingswell and E. O. Gardner for handsome trophies presented for annual compettition, and also to the following ladies and gentlemen for other prizes, viz.:—Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Hidings, Mrs. Ferguson, Miss Gordon, Mrs. Owen. Miss Taylor, Drs. Harke and Dudley, and Messrs. W. J. Rainger, J. C. Burns, F. Hull, W. T. Gulliver, J. A. Peacocke, E. Hickson, and Wiseman and Sons.

Miss F.' Gordon and Mr. R. O. Gardner were congratulated on winning their respective championship competitions. The committer had also deemed it advisable to make a change in the professional, and had appointed Mr. H. Blair to that position.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr. P. N. Kingswell; rice-presidents. Messrs A. S. Bankart, J. C. Burns, P. Hull. Dr. Dudley; captain, Mr. A. G. Cooke; committee: Mrs. Ridings, Misses Crowther, Steele, and MacCormick, Messrs. Ridings, C. F. Gardner, Shilling, Morris and Hay; secretary and treasurer. Mr. M. E. Ward.

A ' sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Burns, Hickson, Chennells, Morris, Cooke, Gardner, and Hay was appointed to consider the question of acquiring land at New Lynn for additional links. «
