UNDER LEAGUE RULES.
CITY ROVERS' CLUB.
The fust annual picnic of the City Rovers Football Club was held at Motutapu yesterday and proved in every way successful. A special ferry steamer was chartered and the party which numbered between 300 and 400 left about 10 a.m. A programme of snorts was held at Motutapu, and visitors in every way spent a thoroughly enjoyable day. The arrangements were splendidly carried out by the secretary, Mr. G. Hunt, and a smail committee.
The various events resulted as follows: — Club Handicap, 100 yds: McCullough, scr.. 1; Hogan, 2yds. 2. Open Handicap, 100 yds: Christian, 12yds, 1; Wall, scr., 2. Three Legged Race: T. Avery and Dowd, 1. Steeplechase: Wall 1, Falls 2. Thread the Needle Race: T. JSheehan, 1. Swimming Race, 75yds: G. Read 1. L. Postlewaight 2. Four gold medals have been presented to the club by Messrs. George Hunt, E. Phelan. E. Asher and R. Denize. Mr. Hunt's medal will be given to the best back in Inst year's second-grade team, and the best forward in the same team will receive Mr. Asher'e trophy. The medal donated by Mr. Phelan will be given to the most serviceable man to the club in the 3rd grade team, | and that given by Mr. Denize will be secured by the player scoring most points in the fourth grade team.
