BOXING OF TO-DAY.

HAS IT DETERIORATED?

London, March 7. The boxing writer of the Standard describes Tuesday's fight between Bombardier Wells and Bandsman Blake as "a cuddling contest," and says that boxing has deteriorated, and that champions are degenerating. Mr. A. F. Bettinson, of the National Sporting Club, admits that the heavy-weights of to-day are a poor lot, but adds that the smaller men are as good as ever. Mr Eugene Corri, the well-known referee claims that Great Britain has better boxers to-day than she ever had in the past Wells himself asserts that a clow with a glove is more punishing than a punch with a bare fist.
