AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.

CALLS TO MINISTERS. A meeting of the Auckland Presbytery was held in St. Andrew's Church buildings yesterday afternoon, the Rev. Isaac Jolly (ex-moderator) presiding, in the absence of the Rev. Samuel Nixon "(moderator). There was a good attendance of clergy and elders.

The call of the Rev. Wm. Butterworth to Tuakau was sustained, and he was asked to declare his mind. He accepted the call, and the induction ceremony will be celebrated on March 24.

The call of the Rev. Adam R. Madill to Whakatane was sustained, and he accepted it. It was decided that he be ordained at Taneatua by commission on a date to be fixed.

The Rev. E. Wright, formerly of New Zealand, but now ministering in the Pres byterian Church at St. Louis, U.S.A., wrote stating that he desired to make an evangelical tour of New Zealand. A committee recommended that the letter of application be received, but that no action be taken.

The report of the Social Services Com mittee was presented by the Rev. J. M. Saunders. The position of agent for Auckland was offered to the Rev. R. Jeffries, of St. Andrew near Timaru. an J his acceptance had come to hand. He would arrive in Auckland on April 25. Financial support had been promised bv some churches, and more was expected". The report of the committee was adopted. An application was received from the managers of the Avondale Church, for permission to sell the manse and an area of land adjoining. As the application dm not state to what purpose the proceeds were to be devoted, the presbvterv decided that a committee be appointed to" view th» property, confer with the Avondale Church managers, and report to the presbvterv. Ihe committee was appointed as follows: -Messrs. S. J. Harbutt, M. A. Clark. C. H. Furness. and G. J. Garland.
