Purist; the period ended February ?3. the Waihi-Paeroa Gold Extraction Company, Ltd.. treated 21.500 tons of tailings, for a return of £4boo. All the sail,ls were dredged from below Per tiki's Bend. Compared with the return for the previous period the present figures show an increase of £450, and in comparison with the same period of 1913, they reveal an increase of £1750. The company has now treated 255,700 tons of tailings for a gross return of £80.911 6s sd, as the follow table of details shows :— £ s. d. WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. RI'TAIRS TO PUMP COMPLETED. [11Y TEUEGRAI'II OWN' CORRESPONDENT-] Waihi, Friday The repairs to the V.'.iihi Grand Grand Junction Company's sinking pump were completed yesterday, and the pump was put into commission i:i 'he main shaft during the night. About four hours pumping cleared away the water which had accumulated in the shaft, and operations were resumed this morning. The shaft will be carried down a few feel further to provide for the sump, after which the south-east crosscut will be pushed out to intersect the Empire reef at No. 7 level.
SAXON. At a meeting of directors in the Saxon Gold Mining Company, held yesterday. Mr. E. A. Brown was appointed chairman of directors. It was resolved to instruct the mine manager to strip the Cardigan No. 2 reel', recently cu,t"at No. 7 level, for a distance of 20ft each way before breaking down; also, to striD a similar distance on the 4in leader, which shows nice colours of gold. THAMES DRAINAGE BOARD. The following telegram was received from the engineer to the Thames Drainage Board (Mr. MacDiarmid) yesterday— Shaft unwatercd early this morning.''* THAMES WARDEN'S COURT. Dunlop, for six months' protection for the Lord Nelson special claim ; Tainia Golden Hills Gold Mining Company, for surrender of special site license; C. Robinson. for residence site license at Tairua. A number of applications were adjourned.
