BANK OF ENGLAND RETURNS. Th following are the Hank of England returns for the week ended March 5: Coin, £10,355.000; reserve, £31.739.000; proportion of reserve to liabilities, 50.12 cent. ; notes in circulation, £28,498,000 ; public deposits, £22,441,000; other deposits. £'<0,877.000; Government securities, £11,153,000; otl'er securities, £38,676,000.

MONEY MARKET. Bank rate, 3 per centShort loans, 2' 6 per cent. Three months' bills, 2 7-16 per cent. Paris bank rate, 2] per cent. Berlin bank rate, 31 per cent. CONSOLS AND COLONIAL STOCK. Consols, £75. New South Wales 3 per cents., £86. Victorian 3$ per cents., £CO. New Zealand 3 per cents . £82. Other stocks are unchanged. PRICES OF METALS. River Plate Shipments: Mutton, 98,750 carcases: lamb, 25,500 carcases; frozen bee', 8 1'.500 quarters; chilled, 308,500 quarters. RABBIT SKINS. Annings r.po:t that the rabbit skin sales closed firm, 2295 bundles being sold. Messrs. Dalgcty and Company are in receipt- of the following cable from their London office, dated March s:—"Frozen meat: Market very quiet; any change in price is in favour of buyers, except light mutton, which is firmer, owing to scarcity." ° AUSTRALIAN STEAMSHIPS. There is a one-storey building on the section, which has a rontact of ?Bft to Wellcpley Street and of 47ft to Albert Street. The lease realised £370. CANTERBURY MARKETS. [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CfTRisTCHUECH, Friday. The week lias been a quiet one in the local grain trade. Offerings have beer, limited, but a number of sales of wheat have been effected on the basis of the late quotations. Oats are very dull of sal;, as there is no outlet for them at present Oatshe.af chaff is also in limited demand. Good cocksfoot seed is very firm, as the quality of the samples generally is not up to the usual standard. Potato-growers are still not offering any quantity, and few are willing to accept the price offered, but merchants are unable to make anv advance on account of the prices ruling in the North Island. Sales are being made at £2 10.- at country stations for MarchApril and April-May delivery. Flour has advanced 10s per ton. Bran has been reduced, and is now quoted at £4 5s per ton.
