I During a debate to-day in the House of Commons on immigration, M. Rodoiphe l.emieux (PostmasterGeneral i declared that the Indian problem in British Columbia has reached an acute stage. He emphasised the action taken by New Zealand and Australia. Other speakers referred to the economic disturbances caused on the land, where labour was well paid, by an incursion of people accustomed to the lowest standard of living.. On the other hand, several speakers pointed out the necessity for preserving friendly relations with China and Japan, owing to the growth of Canadian trade with those countries. During the debate, Mr. Stevens, a Vancouver member, quoted certain seditious articles published in Sanscrit in a paper in San Francisco, entitled The Mutiny."
