RIFLE - SHOOTING.
THE TRENTHAM MEETING.
WEATHER UNFAVOURABLE.
OLIVER LEADS IN AGGREGATE.
[bt telegraph.— PBESS association*.]
Trehthait, Tuesday. The weather was again distinctly unfavourable for good marksmanship this moraine. The wind was not unduly strong at the
commencement of firing, but light, rain passed oyer the range at intervals, and later on the wind increased in violence, and well-known riflemen found the conditions very baffling. The morning was devoted to the Nelson Match, 10 shots. 800 yds and 900 yds, Bisley targets, and despite the bad light, very fair practice was made. At the longer range the increased force ol the wind blowing Irom the rear proven very puzzling. For instance, I earce ol ttanguikei, who had 48 at »ouyas only found the target in his lust shot at youyds wan an outer one. xwo otners tailed o ""the target at all, while several had to leave the , mounds witli a. tew points oniy to their Cled "-. * eai y.<Uiu<ra) win, his sighting t 0t ;„,T or l ', which he decided to accept He lollowed with nine bulls, mating the top score 49, at the 800 yds ranxe-one under the possible.
