" Extension Work " formed the subject of consideration at a gathering of members of the Young Women's Christian Association yesterday. Mrs. Hill described the girls who stream in such numbers from the industrial centres each day. Their life; their recreations, their ideals were briefly reviewed, and also the efforts of the association during the past few years, which have been so inadequate from lack of suitable help. A grapffic illustration of the opportunities before self-sacrificing workers and the appreciation by some of the girls within the factories was shown in a letter received from one of them recently. Miss Carruthers also spoke of some of her experiences in Sydney in similar work. At the conclusion of the meeting there were many offers of ser|§ce, and afternoon tea concluded « iuvpjjx afternoon*
