Atkinson; it was resoled; /' 3*hai? no" ■'" remission be made." •.;" &-■?■■ The secretary of the Auckland Saleyirda Company wrote stating that the council's letter, in teferenoe to a comtiojition from tao company : to a new stock road -was" considered at a meeting of the directors, who desired that the Mayor take the first opportunity of, discussing the matter with Mr. Bodle, chairman of; the company. .Tho. Mayor said he had had "an interview with the chair- - man of the company, wiio advised that the matter be deferred for 12 months. The council agreed to this, suggestion. Jackson applied! for. a "billiard saloon license for his shop premises, -and asked the council to grant • an extension" of time for closing from 10 to-li p.m.- Notice of motion was given by Mr.. Atkinson to rescind the by-law, so as to allow "of the extension of time "being made': 5 *'■'$ '"■" The Water and Drainage r Committee- recommended that .in view of the extraordinary. consumption of water that'.-takes place between the hours of 6 p.m. and '■'&*a.m., no hose connections he .;• allowed* except where- the supply is by meter t and sfchit jail existing consumers using .hose, "connections be requested to instal meters • by : April 1, 1914. or the service be discontinued. The district health officer having advised-- that owners of property in Princes Street should connect their houses with the sewers, the committee recommended that the town clerk issue the necessary notices.
