The whitebait season this year has been very disappointing to Napier residents. In previous seasons a good supply has come to htnd from the Ngaruroro, but owing to vain an J high winds the catches so far have been very poor.
A recent family gathering at Temuka included five generations, the great-great-grand-parent being Mrs. Ann Gow, of Dunedm. She was celebrating her 99th birthday, and was visiting a daughter of 70. It is reported that Mr. P. Clent, dealer, of Balclutha, recently eold a herd of 104 ihead of cattle to a Dunedin man at £15 per head. This is believed to be a record sale for New Zealand for such, a large mob in one lot.
