MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Only one case - came before Mr. C. C. Kettle at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. A young man named John Howe was ordered to pay 10s a week towards the support of his illegitimate child, in addition to medical expenses. Howe did not appear at the commencement of the proceedings, and he was ordered to find a surety of £50 that he would comply with the order on the statement of the complainant that he intended leaving the country. Howe, however, appeared a little later on, and on his stating that he had no intention of doing so, it was decided not to enforce the order for security.
