AN AUCiaANPi ASSOCIATION.
A branch of the New Zealand Civil Service Association has been formed in Auckland. Some opposition was met with, the opponents to the suggestion holding that the formation, of a branch would; appear antagonistic to the recently-appointed Civil Service Commissioners. Mr. A/ J. Hill has been elected secretary pro tern, and the following provisional committee has been appointed :—Messrs. Bendley (Lands and Survey), Gilfedder Shera (Public Works), Abercrombie (Customs), Captain AttwOod (Marine), Jacka (State Toung_ (Gpvernment Insurance), Earl (NativeXand Court). Cross (Pubhc Trust), Symons (Publio; Health), Harvey and Deeds), Hunter (Labour), Rhodes (Magistrate's Court), Casselton I (Defence), Kerr (Prisons), and McMahon j (Mental Hoßpital). :
