A BRIDE'S ROMANCE.
,«►_ . '■ A romantic story of the ■ adventures of a young Russian subject, who came to Eng- , land to avoid military service, was told to the Alien'lmmigration Board in London recently. Before leaving Russia the , man married, and he was reunited to his bride, an attractive-looking young woman in London, with striking Slavonic features.. She arrived in England a few days previously, and came before the Immigration Board to plead for admission. She said she had been married seven months. The husband; on being called before Ihe board; stated, that the marriage, took place in Russia. He admitted that he was a deserter from the Russian army,, and had sought refuge across the frontier in Austria. One day he■ went back to Russia/ arid married" the young woman, whom ho intended taking to. England. Returning alone to Austria after the marriage, he was arrested on suspicion of being a spy, as he had no passport, and all the money he had saved for the purpose of bringing his wife to England he found it necessary to spend in conducting ; his defence. Eventually holleftt t Austria : and came to England, where he was now in regular employment. Rosa, the wife, in giving evidence before the board, said she had pre-dated her marriage on the advice of a relative. in England, who had written informing her that she rrould be more readily admitted if she did ' so.
