ONEHUNGA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

THE newly-formed Onehunga-Mannkau Horticultural Society's first show was opened at the old Public Hall yesterday by the Mayor (Mr. John Eowe), in the presence of a large attendance. Excellent arrangements had been made by the secretary (Mr. Isaac Lamas), and everything passed off most successfully. The exhibits were very numerous, no less than 191 adult, and 130 children competitors having sent entries. A splendid arjay of flowers was witnessed on entering the hall, the most noticeable section being that set .-apart, for the sweet pea exhibitors. Excellent displays, not for competition, were made by Messrs. G. J. Mackay, E. Li ppiatt, G. Richardson, and Miss P. J. Eoberts. The show, which has so far proved a decided success, will be open all to-day, and also this evening, when a. musical programme will form an extra attraction.
