AUCKLAND INDUSTRIAL ASSO-
CTATION.
The monthly meeting of tho Executive Committee of the Auckland Provincial Industrial Association was held yesterday. Mr. S. J. H&rbutt, the president, was in the chair. Afr, Harbutt reported that the deputation ■which had waited on the Prime Minister, the Hon. W. F. Massey, and discussed with him the three matters of immigration, afforestation, and main arterial roads had been well received and sympathetically answered. There was a general discussion about having a central stall for manufacturers at the forthcoming Exhibition. It was decided that a subcommittee should make a report as to its practicability to the next meeting.
W.C.T.U. The annual meeting of tins Auckland W.O.T.U. was held yesterday afternoon in the Albert-street Mission Hall. There waa a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected for the coming year: — President. Mrs. Pudney; vice-presidents Mrs. Thorpe. Mrs. Hughes, and Miss Dewar; treasurer, Miss Dewar; corresponding secretary Miss N. Dewar; recording secretary, Miss Evans. Superintendents of departments: Cradle roll, Mrs. Ogilvie; Sabbath observance, Mrs. Pudney; medical temperance, Miss Evans; 'back block work, Mrs. Thorpe: hygiene, Mrs. lavlor; notable days, Mrs. 'Bendeley; anti-gambling, .-Ira. Jamison; narcotics, Mrs. Jamison ; .Bible in schools, Miss Dewar; evangelistic, Mrs. VV. Taylor; refreshment booth. Mrs. Thorpe and Mias Dewar; good citizenship, Miss Evans; Maori work, Mrs. Hughes; mothers' meeting. Mr<* D'Arcey Hamilton; unfermented wine, Miss Wilson. Mrs. Hughes was appointed delegate to the convention. •
YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION.
Tho Membership Committee of tho Young Women's Christian Association met yesterday to receive names of the new members, and to arrange for their welcome. Seventeen names were presented, the majority being those of recent arrivals in Auckland he list included girls from Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. Further letters on the matter of church representation were read, and vwo more added to the number of those who seek to make the Y.W.C.A. an effective aid to the churches, namely, Miss Edmunds from Reresford-streot Church, and Mrs Taylor from St. John s Mothodut Church. It was decided to accept the kind hospitality of Mrs. Knight at Mount Albert in connection with tho ramble on January 25.
