CONDUCT OF ST. HELENS HOME.
INQUIRY BY MR. C. C. KETTLE,
Serious allegations regarding the conduct of St. Helens Home, Auckland, are to be investigated at an early dale by Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M.
Yesterday Mr. J. H. Bradney, M.P., received a letter from the Minister for Public Health, stating that he had decided to have an inquiry held into the circumstances attending the death of Mrs. Chamberlain, and regarding the general administration of the home, at as early a date as possible. With this in view ho has asked tho Minister for Justice to instruct a magistrate to conduct an inquiry, during which the statements made by Mrs. Emily Nicol and other members of the recent deputation m the Prime Minister at Auckland, who made charges against the administration of the institution, will be thoroughly investigated. Last, evening the Minister for Justice informed the Jleuai/d that in response to his colleague's request he had appointed Mr- C. C. Kettle. S.M., to conduct tho inquiry.
