At a meeting of the Otahuhu Ratepayers' and Citizens' Association on Friday evening, Mr. Norman Todd spoke of the dan-
gerous speed of many of tho motorists on the Great South Road. In some cases, ho said, they travelled at the rate of about 40 miles an hour. He moved that the Borough Council be naked to limit the speed of motorists to 15 miles an hour through th<!> township. After discussion, Mr. Todd withdrew his motion. Reporting on his interview with, the Borough Council, Mr. >>. Todd said bo had represented to tho Council tho views of the association in regard to the formation of a fire brigade for the borough, and ho found the Council thoroughly in accord with them on tho proposal. He believed the result would be that Otiihnhu would soon have a firstclass brigade. Mr. Todd received tho thanks of the association. On the motion of Mr. Can. the meeting instructed the secretary to suggest to tho Borough Council that a ranger lie appointed for the boiough. It is stated that there have been many encroachments on the roads and footpaths of Otahuhu in recent years. These encroachments will bo discovered by the standard survey the Lands Department is making of the whole borough at the request of the Borough Council. The work m improving roads and footpaths and making new footpaths cannot be proceeded w-th until the encroachments are removed.
