MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
v, *t* ■.. . Several judgment summons cases wore heard before Mr. C. C. Kettle, S.M., yesterday at the Magistrate's Court. Mrs: S. E. Kemblo (Auckland) claimed £5 12s from Edward O'Connor, a labourer. Defendant was not present at the outset, though his wife appeared. . The magistrate insisted that O'Connor Bbonld be present in. person. • Defendant having been. sent for, an order was made against him. for immediate payment of the amount claimed, or seven days' imprisonment, the order to-be suspended as long as 10s. a week is paid regularly. The defendant si-id that he had no alternative, but to go to prison. Orders were made for immediate payment, with : an-"'alternative' of imprison- : meat, in the following : cases :—Manuel Lucas (Auckland) v. Rosy McGea. (Auckland). £2 Is; George Carter (Auckland) v. William Smith (Auckland), £1 15s ; S. A. Johnson (Auckland) v. Henry Trainer (Mount Eden), £3 14s ltd: Robertson ! Bros.- (Auckland) v. .F. G.. Barakafe . (Thames), £8 7s 6d; S. A. Johnson (Auckland) v) John Frederick Stewart (N.Z.R. workshops), £1- 16s 2d. : -
