Cooker*, choice are in good demand at 8s 6d to 9s 6d, prime 7s 6d to Bs. Lemons, 8s to 9s per case. Poorman oranges, 5s to 6s per case. 'Hothouse tomatoes, choice lOd to Is per lb, prime 6d to 8dPotatoes, old are selling at 8s 5d to 9s per cwt,_ new large potatoes 2d to 2£d per lb. Onions, ex Tahiti, arrived in good order, and are selling at 15s per cwt.; cauliflowers, 8s to 103 per sscfcj cabbages, -5s to 7s per sack; lettuce, 7s to 83 per case; rhubarb, 2s 6d to 3s 6d oer dozen; bundles of asparagus, 6d to lOd per dozen bundles. Egg:-, fresh are selling at lO^d. NEWCASTLE COAL TRADE. The quantity of coal sent from Newcastle .(N'.S-W-). to other States and countries so far this year shows an increase of 25 per cent, as compared with tho amount sent for the first nine months of last Tear. The increases are particularly noticeable in tho supplies pent to other States, and Chili, Sandwich Islands, Java, and the Argentine. Queensland is the only State that has shown a falling-off, but the deficiency is small. Tho Philippine Islands and Straits Settlements received much less coal this year from Newcastle. The Japanese havo most probably gained the lost trade in these two .places. Limited, report having held their Otahnhu horse sale on Saturday, October 5, when there was a splendid entry of . upwards of 140 horses, including a good number of heavy draughts, broken and unbroken. For good Bound young horses there was a pood demand, and the majority of this description offered found new owners at satisfactory prices to vendors.
