POLICE COURT NEWS.
The silting of the Police Court on Saturday was presided over by Mr. E. Rawson, S.M.
A charge of being an. idle and disorderly person, without lawful means of support, and of having consorted with reputed thieves, was preferred against William Morgan, a well-dressed young man. He was convicted arid ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, it being stipulated that he should obtain work, and earn an honest living. For insobriety, two first offenders were each fined ss, while David Wright, for his second offence, was fined 10s. John Hayes, a fifth offender, who pleaded hard "for leniency, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Claude Clarence Neville, a fourth offender, charged with having broken his prohibition order, -was fined £3, in default 14 days in gaol. For using obscene language in Hobsonstreet, John Walker, who pleaded in extenuation that he had been aggravated by a man asking him for money for drink, was fined £2 with costs.
