A KIHIKIHI THEFT.

MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.

A YOUNG man named Weston was charged with stealing £59 from the Alpha Hotel, at Kihikihi, before Messrs. 11. Irvine and J. G. Elmsley, at To Awamutu, on Friday.

The licensee stated thai ho. put the money into a. cigar-box in the presence of the accused and four other hoarders. Subsequently the box was missed, and later on was found in a ditch close to the hot'ipc. Included in the £59 was a banknote for £20, which witness was holding in trust for 0. Turner. The note was" cashed by the accused at Palmerston North, and traced by the police and detectives.

Weston pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial. Mr. E. Cox appeared for prisoner.
