At a meeting of the North Canterbury centre of the: New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union last evening it was reported that the committee had already collected upwards of £200 towards the prise fund for this year's Timaru to Christchurch road race, which has been set down for September .12. Judging from further promises made it was thought that the prize fund would reach £300 by Wednesday next; when the collecting lists will finally close. It was resolved that the race should be handicapped by the North and South >■ Canterbury handicappers, and that entries should close on August 24. . '.-'''•:... : i——"
