WRECK OF THE KOTUKU.

NAUTICAL INQUIRY OPENS. [BY TELEGRAPH.TRESS ASSOCIATION.] Greymouth, Monday. The nautical inquiry into the wreck of the Union Company's steamer Kotuku on the North Tiphead was opened to-day before Mr. Hewitt, S.M., and Captains Post and Black, assessors. The evidence of Captain Christian and the first mato (Carrick) was taken. Both attributed the accident to tho jamming of the steering gear and the stripping of the propeller. The inquiry was adjourned till to-morrow morning.
