A CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS.
MISHAP ON THE WHARF. A SERIES OF FALLS, A torao man, Frederick Bradburn, residing with his parents in Turner-street, met with a , rather severe accident on Queenstreet Wharf about 3.30 p.m. yesterday. Bradbnrn, who is about 19 years of age, is an apprentice in the employ of Messrs. J. 11. Adams and Co., engineers, and was employed on the construction of the new shed on Queen-street Wharf. According to the statement of a fellow-apprentice, Bradburn was engaged in fixing the crossbeams on top of the steel pillars. He was using a crowbar to raiso one of the beams, when it slipped unexpectedly. As ho was resting his whole weight on tho crowbar he overbalanced, falling a distance of some 20ft on to a pilo of timber beneath. Dr. Goro Gillon ordered his removal to the hospital. Inquiry last night showed that his injuries comprise severe cuts on the back and head, and a bruised shoulder, but his skull was not fractured as was feared at first.
An elderly man named Clark, a fanner from Mangere, was thrown from bis trap in Queeri-stroet yesterday afternoon, and was considerably though not seriously injured. He was driving down Queen-street when, his horse slipped and fell, and Mr. Clark was thrown out. He was carried into Mr. Jas. Pascoe'a chemist's .ehop, where Dr. Coldicutt attended to considerable injuries to his leg.
A man employed on Le Roy's new building in Queen-street had an unpleasant experience yesterday afternoon. Happening to step upon tho glass roof of a portion of the new verandah, ho crashod through and fell on the pavement. He suffered a severe shaking, and received -some nasty bruises, but beyond that does not appear to be much the worse for his experience.
Gerald Neilson, of George-street, Ponsonby, received a bad fall from getting off a moving tramcar at Freeman's Bay on Thursday night. He wan admitted to the hospital, and was found to be suffering from slight concussion and a badly-bruised and lacerated face. Ho is progressing favourably. , '
Henry Middleton, a plasterer, was admitted to the hospital yesterday suffering from a badly cut wrist, the result of a falling slate.
