CLERKS FORM A UNION.

A WELLINGTON MOVEMENT. [BY TELEOBAPH.—OVVJf CORRESPONDENT.] Whllingtow, Friday. Some little time ago an attempt wag. made in Wellington to form a' trades union, the membership of which was to include clerks employed in almost any capacity in the city. The persona immediately concerned were unsympathetic, and the promoter recdved small encouragement from them, The attempt to include clerk* did not meet with success, but a largo section of thoee concerned, having seen the possibility of being coerced into joining a union the constitution and aims of which did not" meet with their views, quietly 'set'to work to form a union of their own, the objects of which wero the reverse of what the original body's were to have been. This union was registered yesterday with a membership of 220. It bean, the somewhat formidable title of the Wellington Society of United Merchants' Clerk# in tho Wholesale, Grocery, Wine and Spirit, Seed and Produce, and Wool Merchants' Offices Industrial Union of Workers. The objects of tho new union aro to maintain the existing amicable relations between employers 'ui-i employed. Any person employed as a clerk in any of the warehouses indicated in the titlo of the union may become a member. The first president of tho union is Mr. George T. Hall, and the eecretaiy is Mr. Walter IL Warren.
