NEW PARLIAMENT OPENS.

IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. -Copyright (Received March 21. 12.45 a.m.) Adelaide, March 20TnE new Parliament (in which tho Peake Government secured a majority of eight over the Labour Government, at tho recent elections) has opened. Mr. O'Loughlin was appointed Speaker. Tho Governor's Speech was purely formal. The Appropriation Bill was passed through all its stages. It is the same Bill as was rejected last cession by the Upper House, except that the items for brick works and timber yards are omitted. It was the rejection of the Bill by the Upper House, because of those items, that caused tho Verran Government to appeal to the country, where it met with defeat.
