THE GOVERNOR.

His Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington) spent a quiet day at Government House yesterday. Lady Islington opened the new nurses' home building in the hospital grounds yeaterday afternoon. A garden party will be given at Government House grounds this afternoon by Lord and Lady Islington. His Excellency, accompanied by Captain Shannon, A.D.C.. will leave this evening for Wellington by the Main Trunk express, and will lay the foundation stone of the new Parliament Buildings on Saturday at 3 p.m. On Tuesday Lord Islington will leave Wellington for Dannevirke, and will open the new Town Hall there on March 28. He will return to Auckland on March 29, and on tlio same day will leave by the Hinemoa on a four days' cruise to the North.
