RIFLE SHOOTING.

THE DOMINION MEETING. [BI TELEGRAPH.—TRESS ASSOCIATION.] TEEKTHAM. Tuesday. THERE is every promise for fine weather for the opening of the Dominion Rifle Association's meeting to-morrow. Already there are a number of competitors in camp, and the Council havo decided to put a number of extra matches on to-morrow and Thursday, so that competitors can nave practice. The first two days will be devoted to the service teams' matches, of which there are seven. Up to the present there are only, lour entries for the teams' series, namely, Nelson Regiment Infantry, Suburbs Rifle Club, Opaki Rifle Ulub, and Karori Kino Club, 'me teams are 12 men with a commander, and among the matches is tne Islington competition lor the silver cup presented by jtlis Excellency, in which the teams have to march 12 miles and attack a position represented by targets. The entries for the individual events, which commence at eight o'clock on Friday, number 307 up to the present, but it is expected that there will be about 325 by the time the competitions commence. Most of those who took part in the Wairarapa meeting have arrived on the ground, ajid among the cracks at practice to-day were .Tames Loveday, R. King, Marenzi, and several others. A parade will take place to-morrow at 8.15, and at nine o'clock the meeting will open. The extra match will be at 800 yds. The camp is laid out in the latest military fashion. t . KING COUNTRY MEETING. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWK COnRESPOXDISST.] . TATJMARUMJI. Tuesday. The King Country Rifle Association held its second annual meeting on Saturday and Monday at Matapuna, under weather conditions which were well nigh perfect. Owing to various reasons tho entries did not come up to those received last year. SergeantMajor Maingay, of To Aroha, acted as range officer .and got tho matches off promptly. The service targets, which were used up to 600vds, wero not favourably received by marksmen. The teams' match, with which goes the Taumarunui tradesmen's challenge shield, was fired on Monday. The present holders, the Ohura Defence Rifle Club, were again successful, winning by the handsome margin of 17 points from the local team. The following are the scores:—-

At a meeting of tho Wairarapa Rifle Association, which was attended by riflemen from all parts of the Dominie::. the following resolution was unanimously carried-.— " That, in the opinion of this association, and in the interests of preserving and encouraging rifle shooting, the constitution of the Dominion rifle associations should be changed and reformed on lines of the successful national associations of New South Wales and Victoria, in which competitors elect the council; and that a. copy of this resolution bo forwarded to the Dominion Riflo Association and other associations."
