"BEAUTY AND THE BARGE. 1 * '" Tjtb delightful comedy, "Beauty and th« Barge," was presented for the second time by Allan Hamilton's Company at His May jesty's Theatre last evening. Merriment <•'■' reigned supreme throughout the three act* of the play, and at the close of the per. formanco the large audience departed from the theatre in excellent humour. " Beauty and the Barge" will be presented again this evening. For to-morrow night and Friday, the J 'management announces two performance of the highly-successful drama, " Why Men Love Women," which Mr. Allan Hamilton has presented throughout Australia and New Zealand The work deals with life in India, and besides being well written i contains many strong situations. "Why I Men Love Women" lends itself to conspicuous scenic display, of which the management promise to take full advantage. \ ALLEN DOONE SEASON. I On Monday next, Mr. George Marlow will introduce to Auckland theatre-goers Allen Doone, the Irish singing comedian and romantic actor, in the musical comedy-drama Sweet County Kerry" With this piece Mr. Doone has completed a most successful tour through the United States and Canada, and has already appeared in Melbourne. Sydney, and Brisbane. "Sweet County Kerry" 1 will he the opening production, and will be followed by a number of other plays— new to New Zealand—including "a Romance in Ireland," "Molly Bawn," "In Old Donegal,' and others. Mr. Doone comes to the Dominion with the reputation of being, not only a charming actor, but also the possessor of a beautt. ful tenor voice, which he uses to great advantage in all his productions. The character of Dan O'Hara in the opening piece, "Sweet County Kerry," has been played by Mr. Doone over 1800" times in the United States and Canada. Tie box plan opens at Wildman and Arey'g tomorrow morning, and day sales at Mar- | telli's. ' "JUDAS MACCABEUS." To celebrate the holding of the Methodist conference in Auckland, the combined church choirs, . some 250 voices, are rendering next Monday evening in the Town Hall, the famous oratorio, "Judas Maccabajus." The soloists will be Missel Elizabeth and Madoline Knight. Mr, William Aspinall, and Rev. A. Mitchell, all noted singers. The choir will have the assistance of a first-class orchestra, under the leadership of Herr A. L. Kreuteer, while the whole performance will be under the conductorship of Mr. E. J. Gatland. The event promises to be a great success. OPERA HOUSE. Large audiences continue' to be present nightly at the Opera House to witness the magic feats of Fasola and his Novelty Company. , PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS. The special attraction at the Queen's Theatre is the beautiful photo, spectacle, "The Discovery of America." This is i magnificent historical production, and vividly represents Columbus's discovery of the Western Continent. This subject, be* sides a number of other interesting film*, . was heartily applauded by crowded audiences throughout yesterday. "The Sins of the Fathers," the thrilling photo, play being presented at the King George Theatre, has aroused considerable interest, and nightly large audiences are visiting the theatre. The current programme of pictures at the Lyric Theatre is an exceptionally fine one, the subjects having been well chosen, A largo audience .testified their appreciation by frequent applause last evening, " Norwegian Scenery" and the miirieroaf other interesting subjects being shown at the Royal Albert Hall, are meeting witk warm praise nightly from large audiences. The kinemacolor films and a hosi of interesting black and white subjects arete* ing shown at the King's Theatre, which was again well patronised last night. ' The very fine programme presented st. its Newton Picture Palace attracted large crowds of people throughout yesterday.
