MIXED MARRIAGES.

THE NE TEMERE DECREE. By Telegraph.— Association.— Ottawa, February 24. The Canadian Government has referred the Ne Temere decree to the Supreme Court of the Dominion. The Court is asked to decide whether the laws of the province of Quebec render null and void, unless contracted before a Roman Catholic priest, marriages that would otherwise be legally binding.

A Montreal cablegram published on Saturday stated that judgment had been given by Mr. Justice Charbooneau. in the Quebec province, in the case- of the Heberts, who were married by a Methodist minister. The husband Bought a nullity of the marriage- under the Ne Temere decree. His Honor derided that the marriage was valid, and held that, the Ne Temere decree had no effect against the civic code.
