«B^~—— — .. Till". Auckland City Council employees held their annual picnic on Saturday at Motutapu. About 1100 employees and their friends attended. The ferry steamer Condor made two trips to the island. The proceedings were enlivened by a choice selection of musical items by the Garri- > son Hand. During the day, the Mayor (Mr, C. J. Parr) and Messrs. 0. Bead and I G. Knight, members of the City Council, ! visited the . picnickers. j The Carpenters' and Joiners' Union held their annual outing at Motukorea, about 700 journeying to the island, where sports and other forms of amusement were indulged in. The employees of the Defiance Clothing Factory held a. picnic at Mateatea, which was attended by about 100 employees and their friends. The usual Sunday excursions to various places in the harbour and gulf . were largely attended yesterday. The fishing excursion, organised by the Newmarket Railway Workshops, was attended by about 120, and good catches are recorded. A large number made the trip to Howick while the round trip to St. Heliers Bay, Bangitoto. and Motutapu was largely attended. In the afternoon several thousand people journeyed to Devonnort, where the A.M.B. Regimental Baud discoursed a. choice selection of musical item, on the reserve near the Victoria Wharf. The trip to Bayswater and Lake Takanuna still claims a large percentage of Sunday excursionists, and several thousand journeyed to those places yesterday.
