REALISTIC MELODRAMA.
There was a trifle too much realism in tho stabbing scene of " The Power of tho Cross" at Melbourne, on Saturday week. When the climax of the play is reached Miss Ada Guildford, the adventuress, rushes upon Mr. Walter Dalgleish, tho villain, and stabs him to the heart. The dagger, of course, should bo buried in clothing, but on this occasion Mr. Dalgleish slipped, and the knife struck him over the left eye. Tho injury was not serious, but it was sufficiently painful to cause tho actor to exclaim, " Good heavens! woman, you have stabbed me," and to stagger off the stage.
