THE CHAMPIONSHIPS REGATTA. NOTES AND COMMENTS. The. prospects for the Auckland Rowing Association's provincial championships regatta, to be hold at Hellyer's Creek next Saturday, are very bright. The country crews have all been training well, and they are confident of repeating their Mercer regatta (successes. At that ro-

gatta it, will bo remembered, the country crows showed great improvement in stylo, . and they wero also -very well trained. Ino city clubs, therefore, will havo to exert themselves considerably if they wish to show that they are still to be reckoned with.The nowlv-formcd Thames club has applied for affiliation with the Auckland centre of the N.Z.8.A., and the application has been forwarded to the central body, wit 1 a recommendation that it. bo granted. Iho Thames club will be the 15th under the jurisdiction of the Auckland Rowing Association- t THE NORTH SHORE CLUB. The selectors of the North Shore Rowing Club Messrs'. K. C. Wykos, W. H. Bowler, and F. P. Bennett, have selected the crews to represent the club at the A.H.A. Regatta on March 2. The club trusts that their supporters will support this function, mainly to strengthen the proposal to hold an Auckland regatta on the Waitemata Harbour every year. The club crews to row in their respective classes are as follow: — Light Maidens: (J. Brooklets (stroke), K. Johnstone, A. Haddow, G. Dawson. Maiden Pair Oar : A. Stephenson (stroke), K. Wallace (bow). Light Juniors: L. Spinley (stroke), 1. Weston, R. Sninley, C. Garr. Heavy Juniors: G. Soagar (stroke). li "Weston, F. Bennett, S. Mc 111 wraith. Maiden Double Sculls: ¥. Bennett, S. The crows havo been training hard, with tho exception of Iho heavy juniors and youths fours, the third man (L. Weston) being aw ay with the party of Auckland swimmers at the Now Zealand championship. I*. Weston, besides being a really good oarsman, has the distinction of being the second best. 100 yds swimmer in New Zealand at* the present time, gaining second place to M. K. Champion at Citristchurch. The most, successful light junior crew of last season has disbanded. T. Duffy, the second man. having been transferred to Wellington, and if.. Grubb, bow, being unablti to train. The club is entering in the senior race, so as ito bo represented, and will race in J clinker racer at a disadvantage, the competing clubs mostly having best and best boats to compete in.
