MY XMAS BOX TO N.Z.

CO-OPERATIVE BANKS.

Farmers of New Zealand, and all persons desirous of seeing this Dominion maintained in the highest state of prosperity, without further borrovvinj from abroad, and particularly all those who feel they could succeed in lifo if only they could get command of a little capital, this letter is addressed to you : — Dear Realising that there are at the present time very few persons in New Zealand who are conversant with the immense potentiality, as a factor in the production of wealth, of co-operative banks, as at present in operation on the Continent of Europe, Ireland, Canada, and other parts of i the world, but particularly in Germany, France, and Italy, and, having made a special study of this important subject, I am desirous of getting a sufficient number of persons interested to guarantee the funds necessary to print and publish a monthly paper, which I propose calling the Co-ooerative Banking and Financial Critic, the literary columns of which will be devoted to educating tho public, particularly farmers, manufacturers, and small tradesmen—in fact, all persons who feel confident that if they could get command of capital at a reasonable rate of interest- on their personal character and tho guarantee of their friends, they could profitably utilise th© same, and get on in life—to tho principles, advantages, and importance of co-opera-tive banking, feeling sure that this will load to an agitation for, and ultimate establishment of, co-operative banks throughout the Dominion, upon the unique lines provided for in my booklet, "Model Rules for a Perfect Co-operative People's Bank, Limited, or a, State-guaran-teed People's Bank," just published, and thus would New Zealand be maintained in the highest state of prosperity without the necessity of further borrowing from abroad, and thus millions be available for expenditure within the Dominion, that now go out in interest, and everyone having the capacity to get oh would be provided with the capital to do so. This I submit- is a matter worthy of your immediate consideration and support, and I insert this letter with a view to inviting everyone, prepared to become a subscriber to the proposed, paper, to send along their name and address. The subscription to the paper will be 5s per annum, post paid, if paid in advance, or ;6s 6d booked. ; ~', ' .-

Are you prepared to become a subscriber? If not, why not? If you are, write now, as this letter will not appear in this paper again. Co-operative banks have been instrumental in making Germany a mighty power in the world, they can at least do. as much for New Zealand. It is for you to grasp this opportunity to know as much and more than the Germans about banking. If you want further information before promising your support, send mc one shilling for a copy of Model Rules for a Co-operative People's Bank, etc., or for free circular send name and address .to yours faithfully, C. P. W. Longdill, author of "A Perfect System of Banking,'' etc., office, Davidson's Buildings, Newmarket, Auckland.
