GEO. E. SMERDON.

CAKES FOR THE MILLION.

Christmas without a Christmas cake would be like an egg without salt, and as the average housewife is too busy at the festive season with other branches of the culinary department to trouble about cake-making, naturally enough she considers where is the best place to buy one. A visit to Mr. Geo. E. Smerdon's, baker and confectioner, Mannkau Road, will prove lo tile "guid wife" that she need not worry about the troubles of cakemaking, as Mr. Smerdon can supply her wants, however fastidious she may be. Rich Christmas cakes, beautifully iced, with seasonable greetings inscribed, add a distinct finish to the festive board, whilst no Christmas hamper would bo complete without one of Mr. Smerdon's cakes. Mince-pies and pastry of every description are always associated with Yuletido rejoicing, and again here the good lady of the house should inspect what Mr. Smo.rdon has to offer. "What shall 1 put in that child's stocking?" is what many a pseudo Santa Clans will ask on Christmas Eve, though a visit to Smerdon's will quickly settle the difficulty. Lollies, toys, and small goods suitable. for placing in the children's stockings form a. large item in Mr. Smerdon's stock, and if Santa Clans desires to awake on Christmas morning with the sound of delighted juvenile laughter echoing in his ears, he should assuredly pay a visit previously to Mr. Smerdon with the most capacious receptacle at his disposal. He may thus make sure of the children not being disappointed when' they peer into the depths of their hanging hose. Handsomely decorated boxes of chocolates are always acceptable gifts at Christmas time, and ar. Mr. Smerdon stocks nothing but the very finest quality of these goods patrons cannot go far wrong by purchasing their goods from him.
