CHRISTMAS GREETINGS.
WILDMAN AND AREY'S DISPLAY.
' The name of Messrs. Wildman and Arey, the well-known booksellers, stationers, and purveyors of Christmas cards, picture postcards, etc., in Shortland-street, is familiar as ft household word in the mouths of most Aucklanders. This old established business, as usual, is meeting the demand for Christmas articles with a most varied and tempting display. Of the departments in the premises the most frequented just now is the shop in the Victoria Arcade, which is specially devoted to Christmas and New i'ear cards, picture postcards, New Zealand view books, and fancy calendars. (1 novelty this year is a line of autograph Christmas greeting cards, with envelopes to match. These are chic and up-to-date. The fancy calendars, too, are very low in price, ranging from 6d to 5s or 6s for the best. This is the favourite resort of purchasers of all kinds of articles for the conveyance of seasonable greetings, and crowds of peoole visit it. The book department, which is situated in the main shop, contains all that the book-lover revels in, from the smaller booklet to the largest volume. There are miniature biographies and scries of general literature, Rosemary booklets, "Quiet Hours" series, pocket editions of standard novels, children's pocket series, miniature booklets, and colour series, the works of Ruskin, Maeterlinck, Ella Wheeler Wilcox, and other well-known authors, new and good current fiction, Gowan's art books, handsome Harrison-Fisher gift books, children's annuals, and various other publications, all suitable for customers' own reading or for presents for old and young. In the shop facing Shortland-street there is the usual fine display of leather and general fancy goods, magazines, stationery, etc. A heavy business will doubtless be done in all departments during the coming week, but Messrs. Wildman and Arey's large and efficient staff may bo relied upon to satisfactorily cope with the needs of all the world and his wife. Messrs. Wildman and Arey's shops now number four, the latest addition being situated between Customs- East and the new post office in Queen-street. Here one may procure all lines stocked in the firm's Short-land-street i-hop. Both shops will be closed on Wednesday afternoon this week, and be open till 11 p.m. on.
