The fusing of an electric main at Nottingham melted a gas main under the pavement, and this resulted in an explosion, which completely wrecked the Albert Hotel, one of the largest hotels in the town. Huge pieces of paving stones were hurled through windows on the opposite side of the street. Ten people were seriously injured..
