Sir,— you allow mo to express an opinion on the subject of "The Woman • ~ 1 noticed in the Herald that some gentleman is in favour of doing away with them altogether, and making domestic servants and factory hands Sf them, Xsow I want to make it clear that many of the girls who are in offices could not attempt heavy work. They have never been used to it, and I think when a fairly lar^e sum has been spent on their education it would be very unwise to expect them to settle down to work that they were never trained to do.
