ACCOUNTANTS' CLUBROOMS.
A large number of members were present last evening at the Chamber of Commerce, when the new clubrooms, comprising library and reading-rooms, which havo been secured for the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants in . Swanson*. street, were formally opened. . • Mr. Henry Sluiw, president of Auckland branch, in declaring the rooms opened, said the council had recognised, lor a long time the necessity of catering for the . social side, and felt sure the new rooms. would greatly assist in the social work of the society. Ho mentioned that the executive council of the society had. granted the Auckland, society £470, of which it was intended to lay i-50 aside as a grant to the University, when the University.-' authorities ..saw fit to inaugurate a system !of accountancy lectures for students, as desired by the society. Mr. A. D. Koberton (vice-president of the Incorporated Institute of Acoountants), Mr. R. H. A. Potter (vice-president New Zealand Accountants and Auditors' Associa,tion), Mr. W. H. Hemingway,- and Mr. j G. W. Hutchinson, also addressed the meeting. Light refreshments were handed round during the evening.
