LYSOL POISONING.*

A single woman, Mary Fisher, aged about 30 years, died in the hospital early yesterday morning as a result of lysol poisoning. 'Deceased had been boarding for some months past at the house of Mrs. Punch in Grafton Road. '-'.' ' { '' .''":'.:.'"'■•'.:... v..-'/'.-'."''^',.-■:

At an ■ inquest held yesterday afternoon, before the Coroner (Mr. T. Gresham), Jane Barbara Punch stated that she had known the deceased for some 12 months. L She was of independent means. Witness had many times thought that she wasinot of sound mind. 1 Of late r she had been rather despondent. Early yesterday morning witness heard a noise lin deceased's* bedroom, and knocked at her door. Getting no reply witness entered the room, and found the deceased on the floor, dressed as for bed. Asked what the matter was, deceased replied, "I am all right." Witness found a tumbler within three feet of the deceased;

Dr. Coldicott stated that ho was called to the case at 47 o'clock yesterday, morning. Deceased was in bed, and in a semiconscious condition, > with white froth issuing from her mouth. She resisted the administration of remedies, and then relapsed into total unconsciousness. - On a chest of; drawers he eaw a tumbler and a small bottle of lysol, the bottle being ; a newly-opened . one. '■'] The bottle, ; which would have contained three ounces, was almost empty, and witness noticed a smell of carbolic—the principal ingredient of lysol the room. Witness accompanied the deceased to the hospital, where i she died shortly afterwards. \ A post-mortem examination was made. Death, said I the doctor, was due to lysol poisoning,, and he had no' doubt the poison was self-adminis-tered. : ' ' _ •
