THE NEW TOWN HALL.

A MUSICAL FESTIVAL,

The opening of the Town Hall in December next will be marked by the holding of the finest musical festival that has yet been held in Auckland. The Mayor (Mr. 0. J. Parr), is making a big endeavour to achieve this result, and while in Wellington this week arranged with Mr. JMaughan Barnett, the Town Hall organist at Wellington, to come to Auckland for a ,week, and assist in the musical programmes at the opening festivities. The Mayor; proposes to have three organ recitals, at which Mr. Barnett will play, and also that Mr. Barnett shall render a number of selections at the conversazione prior l to the performance of "The Messiah."
