FLOODS IN THE NORTH.
DELAYED ' TRAINS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Whangarei, Sunday. Delays occurred on the Whangarei-Kawa-kawa line on Saturday, owing to the flooded! state of the low-lying parts of the country. At places between Whakapara and Hukerenui the water "reached the axles of the rolling stock, making . progress slow. Between Hukerenui and Towai a washout took place, making it necessary to transfer the passengers and mails. As soon as the floods subsided gangs got to work, and the way was repaired before dark. The heavy rains have brought down a largo amount of timber for the mills in the Mangakahia district. The rain has now ceased, and the rivers are falling. No loss of stock or damage is reported from the outlying districts.
