PRISONERS SENTENCED.
[BY TELEGRAPH. — ASSOCIATION.! . Wellington, Saturday. , Several prisoners were, sentenced 'by Mr. Justice Chapman to-day. Harold Spencer, who admitted a charge of breaking and entering and theft, was sentenced to six months' < imprisonment and four years' reformative detention George McDonald, for obtaining money by false pretences, 12 months and five years' detention; Bertie Smith, charged with a series of warehouse thefts, to 12 months; and Alfred Smith, receiving & quantity of stolen property, nine months. Sentence on Ernest Gregory, implicated in the, thefts, was deferred.
