CLUB MATCHES. PONSONBY AND NEWTON WIN. Tho senior-grade matches of the. Auckland Rugby League (Northern Union rules) were resumed on Saturday at. Victoria Park and Takapuna racecourse. There was a good attendance at Victoria Park, where Newton Rangers defeated Eden Ramblers by 13 points to 8. I'onsonby United beat. North Shove Albions at Takapuna by 22 points to 6. rONSONBT'S FINAL EFFORT. The Ponsonby United-North Shore Albion match was decided at Takapuna racecourse grounds, and up to the concluding stages the game might have been won by either team. I'onsonby here asserted themselves, and their final effort resulted in a, win by a substantial margin. Dillamore drew first blood for the westerners and followed shortly after by touching down again. Bailey then scored for North Whore, but this was neutralised by Dillamoro doing the " hat trick." Ponsonby at this stage liegan to assert themselves. Carlaw ran across and scored, but Griffin immediately responded for North Shore. This waa their last score, and Ponsonby added a further 10 points, tries being obtained by Nicholson and Flicker, both being converted by McGregor, the game tnus ending: Ponsonby. United 22 North Shore Albions 6 Mr. R. Oliphsnt' was referee. EDEN'S SURPRISING FORM. The match lietween Newton Rangers and Eden Ramblers, which was played at Victoria Park, was looked upon as an '"' easy thing" for tho former.
