THE REVOLT IN . CANTON,

A Chinese merchant who has returned from China states that the recent 'uprising was an attempt by two or three thousand youths and young men to overthrow tho Manchu rule in the Canton provinces. They were well armed, but lacked organisation, and the trouble was soon quelled.
Great surveillance 'is exercised over queueless persons., because 70 per cent, of the revolutionaries are without that appendage.
