THE OFFICE STAFF.

INCREASED SALARIES. The chairman stated that the Finance Committee had decided to make ' small increases to the salaries of all the Board's officers, the total amount added being £165. This would not increase the cost of the administration of the Board's business, as lower salaries were being paid to some officers than those received by their predecessors, and while giving small pro motions to all its officers, ,the Board would be saving £5 per annum on the readjustment. The Board must recognise that its business had increased, and while it was being well attended to by the staff, he thought the Board had reason to think that its own management was a factor responsible in a measure for the fact that the work was being done satisfactorily without increased cost of administration.
