DRY WEATHER AT OTIRA.

ONE HUNDRED MEN AFFECTED.

[BY TELEGEAPH.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Christchuhch, Tuesday. The stoppage of work at the Otira tunnel, owing to dry weather, will affect about 100 men, and unless there is rain soon all work will cease. The management isi making alterations at the intake on the Holt's Creek pipe line, so as to take all the water available in the creek, and in the evant of another dry spell the present trouble will be avoided to a great extent. The Rolleston River is dry for about half a mile, which is a very rare occurrence. The present outlook is not very promising, as there is still no appearance of rain.
