LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION.
MR. MASSEY AT RAGLAN. [BY TFXEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Raglan, Tuesday. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr: W. F. Massey, accompanied by Mr. Lang, M.P., paid a visit to Raglan yesterday. They were met at the Waingaro landing by a party from Raglan, and spent the foronoon in a launch cruise round the harbour, when the large areas of unoccupied native land in the neighbourhood were pointed out to the visitors. At night they were entertained at a banquet tendered by the settlers, at the Harbour View Hotel. Mr. C. W. Ralfe, riding representative on the County Council, presided. Later, Mr. Massey spoke at a largely attended meeting in the Town Hall, at which Mr. Pelham (chairman .of the Town Board) presided. In a forcible speech occupying about an hour and ahalf, Mr. Maesey dealt with political questions of the day, severely criticising the Government's methods of conducting the affairs of the Dominion.. Mr. Lang spoke briefly, but did not touch on party politics. A vote of thanks to Mr. Massey was carr'ed by acclamation. The visitors left by the Claymore for Kawhia this morning.
