MEETINGS.
AUCKLAND TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION.
The annual meeting of the Auckland Typographical Union was held on Saturday evening. The president (Mr. H. W. Brookes) occupied the chair. The report and balancesheet showed the union to be in a strong position, both financially and numerically. The total receipts for the past half-year, added to the balance from the previous halfyear, amounted to £4-56 16s 2d, exclusive of bank interest (approximately. £12) and a refund of £11 Us from the New Zealand Federated Typographical Association. The expenditure amounted to £87 5s 2d, leaving a balance to the union's credit of £369, exclusive of the bank interest and refund referred to. The total number of members is 146. On the motion of Mr. E.. right, the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were unanimously reelected President, Mr. H. W. Brookes; vice-president, Mr. F. Christmas; secretary, Mr. F. A. . Cleveland; trustees, Messrs. F. Armiger and J. C. Chappell. Messrs. T. Phillips and E. J. Paris were elected board members to represent the trade. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Chappell, that two guineas be given towards the proposed presentation to Mr. E. Tregear on his retirement from the position of Secretary for Labour. The Auckland Trades Hall trustees requested the union to render financial assistance, by gift, loan, or otherwise, towards the proposed trades hall, and on the motion of Mr. Phillips it was resolved " That the union lend tho trustees tho sum of £50, on condition that ,wo previously receive 50 £1 debentures." An application was received from tho Otago Tramways Union for monetary assistance for Mr. J. Hair, who is permanently laid aside by illness, and who has a wife and five children depending upon him On Mr. Davison's motion, it was agreed to donate two guineas. The secretary gave a brief account of the recent Typographical Conference at Christchurch, and was accorded a vote of thanks. Other business having been dealt with, Mr. W. J'.. Macdermott proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the outgoing officers and board members for their services during tho year, and this was carried by acclamation. MASTER PLUMBERS. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Master Plumbers' Union tho election of officers for the Year resulted as follows: — President, Mr. J. B. King; vice-preseident, Mr T C. Spinley; secretary, Mr. A. J. Let,ham (re-elected); treasurer, Mr. F. Hitchcock (re-elected); _ auditors, Messrs. Allen and Doull; committee, Messrs. Auld, Clark, and Fisher. remuera road board.' A meeting of the Remuera Road Board was held last evening, Mr. C. A. Cawkwell presiding. There were also present: Messrs. Emi Bond, W. J. Parker, A. C. Pilkington, and P. Spencer. The Board decided to meet on Thursday next, in order to consider tho matter of altering the boundary line between Parnoll and Remuera. Mr. Frank Lawry, M.T., sent the Board a largo framed portrait 'of himself, which was hung in the Board-room. .' : . i
